How to Install Side Steps on Your Volkswagen – Generic Guide

L1 and L2 signify that the brackets are supposed to be attached to the front left and rear left side respectively, while R1 and R2 show that they are supposed to be attached to the front right and rear right sides respectively.

Mount each bracket on its designated side but do not fully tighten the screws to leave some room for movement while attaching the side steps.
